Answer Engine Optimization for B2B / A Danish Lead Co company

Which commercial roofing contractors do ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI recommend? (October 2026)

When US buyers ask AI engines for a commercial roofing contractor without naming a city, the same national contractors come back. Tecta America was named most often, in 36 of 50 answers (72.0%), followed by CentiMark (34) and Nations Roof (33). 49 of the 50 answers named at least one firm, and 115 different firms were named in total, 94 of them only once.

What the answers show

  • +Five national contractors account for 158 (50.3%) of all 314 firm mentions: Tecta America (36), CentiMark (34), Nations Roof (33), Baker Roofing (31) and Flynn Group of Companies (24), out of 50 answers. The sixth, Greenwood Industries, was named in 10.
  • +Gemini was the most consistent: it named Tecta America in 12 of 12 answers and CentiMark in 11 of 12. ChatGPT spread its answers across more firms, 60 in total.
  • +8 of Copilot's 12 answers came back written for a buyer outside the US and named local roofers there, a side effect of the third-party service we query Copilot through, which runs each session from a random location. They are excluded, so only 4 Copilot answers are counted in this category.
  • +Contractors' own sites are cited less here than in other categories: in 17 of 32 answers with sources. Trade publications and roofing blogs (owlroofing.com, theroofingbrief.com, roofingcontractor.com) carry most citations.

An answer can cite several kinds, so the rows do not sum to the total. "A named firm's own website" means the domain matches the name of a firm named in this category.

What the named firms have in common

The five most named are national, multi-region contractors, as the answers themselves describe them. That is a feature of the questions as much as the firms: without a city in the question, the engines default to companies with a national footprint. A regional contractor is far more likely to be named when the buyer includes a location.

How a firm in this category gets named

Being named depends on what the engines read. In this category, of the 32 answers that showed their sources, 17 cited a named firm's own website and 3 cited a directory, review or analyst site. For a regional contractor the realistic target is the location-specific question, which this study did not measure. Pages per service area and roof system, and coverage in the trade publications the engines cite, are the routes in. This is the work SourceRank AI does, described on the services page. The free site readiness check shows whether your site is structurally ready to be cited; it checks your site, it does not measure answers like the ones on this page. Common questions

Which commercial roofing contractors does ChatGPT recommend?

In this October 2026 run ChatGPT named Tecta America and CentiMark most often, in 6 of its 12 answers each. Across all five engines the most named were Tecta America (36 of 50 answers), CentiMark (34) and Nations Roof (33).

Do ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI recommend the same commercial roofing contractors?

Partly. Tecta America was named by 5 of the 5 engines, and in 8 of the 12 questions at least two engines named the same firm first. Below the top few names the lists diverge: 94 of the 115 firms were named in only one answer.

How was this measured?

12 buyer questions asking for commercial roofing contractors were put once to ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews on 10 October 2026, from a US English context. 50 answers were measured, and the firms each answer named as providers were extracted and counted once per answer. It is a single run, and the same question asked again can return different firms.
